Since over a month  when Twitter launched it’s new application Vine,, we have heard a lot about it. This is  social video sharing like You tube, but the new thing is this app lets you record and share videos on twitter, facebook  and on the page itself.

Valentine’s day an opportunity to our hotel, spa or restaurant business

As each February at this point of the month comes the dreaded Valentine’s Day and we face the question of what to do this year. Whether you are someone who love this day as if you think a commercial development, surely you’ll appreciate a perfume created especially for you, a hot chocolate massage or a trip to a spa hotel in the middle of the cold snow.

So as managers of our hotel, spa and beauty centers, we should not miss this opportunity to create a tempting offer to publicize our businesses to reach local customers, to break the seasonality of winter, to raise awareness the food in our restaurant or to end product stock you had stored …

So get to work, let’s do something different and put a romantic note in our routine work.

From January 30th to February 3rd was the thirty-third edition of the International Tourism Fair FITUR 2013, the most important event of the Spanish tourism sector in Madrid, under the title “All destinations, all businesses”

The fair this year has started investing in innovation and technology, measures to tackle the crisis. For the first time, you could download the Fitur application, visit the bathroom of the future, the Balearic”stand paperless”  or take a salsa class with virtual reality.

5 easy tools to capture external or not hotel guest to our Spa

Breaking barriers and attracts local audiences.

In these times our mission is to maximize revenue and profit from our facilities. This becomes  crucial being capable  to get to the local public of our cities.

All centers and spas have their challenges as the Hotel-Spa or Resort SPA, are no exception. The greater difficulty is to  attract local customer or non-hosted customers, who in many cases does not even know we have a spa or is overcomed by a luxurious and inaccessible hotel entrance .

1. Make our hotel accessible. Soften the physical and psychological architectural barriers from our hotel.

Think of the entrance to a hotel, luxurious, with a doorman and a revolving door and probably a grand staircase.

All these elements that convey luxury and good image to our hotel, can be a barrier for non-hosted clients who are overwhelmed.

Also in many hotels  the spa is on the top floor or basement.

It is therefore very important:

  • Place outdoor items that indicate the presence of the spa. Do not forget that in many cases they access from the parking lot.
  • Train the  staff who are first contact with the customer to be   prepared to identify the spa client, and make them feel comfortable and help them to find the spa.
  • Signs. Flag correctly  the spa inside the hotel.

2. Gift Certificates

Sign up for this trend of giving and sharing experiences. Make beautiful gift vouchers, either with treatment or by a specific amount.

Prepare gift vouchers for different times of the year, such as Valentine’s, Christmas or Mother’s Day.

Give your bonds through commercial department to selected local firms or clients.

3. Health club Spa

Have you thought about your facilities?  You have a great pool, a gym that is not bad,  changing rooms…and it is empty most of the day

You can create an exclusive members club for a price and a number of partners, taking care of  the satisfaction of the partner and of course your hotel Guest

4. Attractive packages along with other Hotel amenities

Normally as we have decided to spend the morning or afternoon at the spa, we like to take more time and do some other activity.

Creat attractive packages that differentiate you from the competition , and  make our guest  enjoy a  unique experience, with servicesas spa, lunch or dinner in our restaurant, a glass of champagne,  a golf course, a workshop, a wine tasting, an art exhibition or any other activity that may be attractive.

5. Web pages and collective purchase discount

If getting to the audience of your city,is still difficult,  you can always go to the portals of collective buying, Groupon and flash sales, Groupalia, lets bonus, last minute .. You can see more in my post. “Collective buying and social networks”

You must provide an advantageous price and they  will get a big commission, but you can reach a wide audience, and gain new customers.

Once you have managed to reach the customer, it’s your mission to get their satisfaction, get his loyalty to return and above all, he will recomend your center.

IV Conference Energy Efficiency in the Hotel Industry of ITH. Valencia

 The last wednesday 21th November, was the fourth edition of the lecture  on sustainability and energy efficiency in the city of Valencia , inside the official program of the Spanish Hoteliers Congress, organized by the Spanish Confederation of Hotels and Tourist Accommodation CEHAT.

This conference  organized by ITH Hotel Technology Institute and sponsored by Gas Natural Fenosa, Buderus Bosch Group, TÜV Rheinland, Aquasonic and Schneider Electric was intended to show   from a global point of view, the different possibilities that the market offers in terms of energy efficiency for hoteliers.

The event was attended among others.

I would like to share my opinion on this blog about the different spas I’ve been visiting. To begin with a positive review I will choose one of the spas that I liked most, the Thai Spa Asia Gardens Hotel.

This weekend took place the third edition  la tercera edición del Congreso Spa & Beauty Spain 2012 in the Catalonia Palace of Congresses, Barcelona, on 20nd and 21th October.

This is a  Congress strictly professional, where  all sectors are represented Wellness, Beauty, Spa, Aesthetic and Cosmetic.

Despite the rain the assistance of professionals has been high.

The showroom had more than 70 brands, some of the best national and international, it was  distributed between 73% representation of cosmetic and spa brands and 27% representation of brands of appliances
